New Cards

Made a couple of new cards tonight, a baby one for my friend Denise (now I just have to get her address so I can send it to her!!), and birthday one for sometime when I need one. Just felt like playing around with my scrapbooking stuff. Everythings pretty quiet right now, although there's nothing wrong with that, who need drama???
I'm trying to watch both Big Brother and Canadian Idol right now. Oh, I guess I can stop watching Canadian Idol - Sarah Loverock just got voted off. I liked her. I don't really have a favorite yet. Big Brother is pretty good this season - it's All Stars. Chicken George is back, although I think he's near the end of his run. That's what he gets for trying to play all sweet and innocent and then getting caught eavesdropping!! I'm sooooo hooked on these stupid reality shows!! Tomorrow night is "So You Think You Can Dance" (I think that's my favorite).

Love it...

Found this picture of a wedding cake and I love it, only with my wedding colors of blue and brown instead of pink and brown like it is here.

Also, this great girl named Heather made me some monograms, check them out and tell me what you think:

Exciting News and a Couple of Layouts

I just got some very exciting news!! My friend Denise,
who just got married in early June, is pregnant!!
Yay!! I'm soooo excited for her. She is only very newly pregnant, like, not due
until March, but it is such great news. The other girls I was at the wedding
with and I knew that this would be happening soon, but I don't know if any of us
(Denise included) really thought it would happen already.

I've been
scrapping most of the day. It was rainy here. I'm still waiting for Bevan to get
home - really hoping he made his last flight on time. They only had 40 mintues
to get from one flight to the other, and from what I could tell from the online
info (yes, I was stalking his plane!!) the arriving flight was 15 minutes late
and the departing flight left RIGHT on time. That was
about an hour ago, so I'm hoping he's on the plane and on his way home and not
at the airport trying to arrange for another way home.

Here's the
progress I made today (and my scrapbook is now full, I think I'd like to get a
new one for just engagement and wedding stuff, and a new one for our CKU trip):

Journalling on "The Proposal" reads:

It all happened on a Saturday morning. There was a card
class at the shop that I was going to go to. Bevan was driving me
to the shop, and when we got there he helped me carry my stuff inside. I
wanted him to help me pick out some paper for an altered letter I was going to
make him. Carolyn and Michelle were downstairs in the classroom setting up
for class. We all chatted for a few minutes, then Bevan and I were going
to head upstairs to pick out paper. Carolyn told me that she had finished
a couple of new layouts and they were sitting on her desk. So, Bevan and I
went up the stairs and I went right over to the desk. The first layout I
saw was the one Carolyn had been working on the previous day; it was on the
right side of the desk. Then the layout in the middle of the desk caught
my attention. I was in complete shock when I finally realized what it
was!! It was a layout with a picture of Bevan holding a ring box, and up
the side was stamped “Marry Me.” Bevan tells me I said no, no, no a bunch
of times first (I didn’t mean that I didn’t want to marry him, I think I was
just in shock and trying to put all the pieces together!). When I turned
around to look at Bevan, he was on his knee behind me, holding what turned out
to be my engagement ring. He asked me again: “Will you marry me?” and
through my tears I managed to say “Yes”.

Misc. Garble

Just a post because I haven't posted in a while. Not much is new. Just finished my first week back at work. It was ok, but my first day back was really hectic.
Bevan's been away in Manitoba at the Special Olympics Summer Games. He left at 4 am on Tuesday and gets back tonight at 1 am. I'm really hoping that the weather the maritimes are supposed to get from the tropical storm that is passing by doesn't affect his flight. I haven't minded being here by myself too much, but it's been pretty boring!! I did, however, get to watch "So You Think You Can Dance" without him whining that I was watching "that stupid show" again. It was another great week on the show. Dmitry and Martha were eliminated this week.

I wasn't really surprised with the results. I think all the girls loved Dmitry because he liked to take his shirt off. I think he was an amazing dancer, but he seemed more limited than some of the others. Martha seemed really good a few weeks ago, especially when she danced with Travis, but hasn't been as impressive lately. My picks to win: Benji and Natalie or Allison. I'd like to see Natalie win, but she was in the bottom 2 last night. I think it will probably be Allison.

There is nothing I really need to do today, so I think I'll do some scrapbooking and maybe get started on some Christmas cards for my classes in September. I'm not working at the store on Fridays over the summer, which has been great so far for getting stuff done that usually get put off.

Being the 26th Customer

Yep, that's right, unlucky number 26. We went to the grand opening of M&M Meats here in Summerside today to pick up some goodies for bbq-ing. We were standing in line, waiting to pay, when all of a sudden the people at the cash register started cheering. The person in front of us was the 25th customer, and every 25th customer of the day was getting a prize. Mind you, it wasn't like a million dollars or anything, it was a pizza pan, but it just goes to show you that I'm not a lucky person. I've never had much luck winning things, but I guess it makes it even better when and if you do, for example, I will never forget when I won that cake at the cake walk back when I was little. It was an amazing cake that everyone was ooohing and aaahing over the whole time, and then I won it. It was pretty exciting. And last year I won a rubber stamp from a scrapbook store back home. I just keep buying those lottery tickets and hoping that someday I'll be lucky again!!
Not much else going on this weekend. It's beautiful outside today. I helped decorate for a wedding reception just outside of Charlottetown yesterday. I have some pictures that I'll post when I put them on the computer. It turned out really pretty, it was kind of a garden theme so we put potted plants on all the tables and fresh flowers everywhere. The weather would have been great for the wedding today.
We had a little picnic on our back deck for lunch today, we made yummy sandwiches and had pasta salad. It was great. I'm trying hard to enjoy my last couple of days before I have to go back to work.
Oh, and I now have plans to go wedding dress shopping on August 17th!!!! It will be me and my mom and Mel and Christine and Dawn going I hope. We'll go to Halifax and Dartmouth, and I hear there's a great place in Windsor I'd like to check out. I'm excited about it because everyone will be able to come with me. Bought some awesome brown and blue ribbon at Old Navy of all places yesterday for the wedding. It's about 1 1/2 inches wide with huge polka dots - I love it. Bought some candles at Michaels too. Decided to go with round candle holders for the tables with ribbon tied around them, and bright gerbera daisies in the middle of each table. It's all sooo exciting for me.

My Favorite Cancelled TV Show

Just saw this great blog challenge on 2 Peas and it reminded me of my favorite TV show that got cancelled. Nobody else will probably even remember this show. It was only on ABC for 1 season. They had it on Friday nights, so nobody ever saw it, but it was the funniest show ever. It was called Married to the Kellys. It was about this guy who grew up in a big city who married a small town girl and moved back to her hometown and was thrown into her very family oriented lifestyle. The other characters included the geeky brother, the perfectionist sister and her husband who had givin in to the close knit family lifestyle, and the parents. My favorite part of the show was when the whole family would sit around the table before a meal and sing their dinner song. I'm looking all over the internet for the lyrics to the dinner song - it was soooo corny that it was hilarious. Anyways, the show was cancelled a couple of years ago now, but I'm still holding out hope that they put it out of DVD!!!

So you think you can dance???

Yes, apparently my Uncle Garfield does think he can dance. This picture was taken on Saturday night of carnival. Garfield decided to do the robot. It was very amusing. We have video of it as well that will keep me laughing for years to come.
Now to discuss some real dancers, those people on "So You Think You Can Dance" are sooooo good. This is my guilty pleasure show of the summer. I just can't wait until Wednesday nights so I can watch it. Although I must say, they need to leave it on at the same time every week and stop changing it around!!!! Tonight will be the results show. My favs are Donyelle and Benji and Natalie and Musa and Ivan and Allison (did you see them last night?? They were sooo good). That doesn't mean that I don't like the rest of them, they are all really good. I think tonight may be the end of the line for Dimitri and Ashlee. Dimitri was not so good at the "pop" dancing last night.
Oh, and I saw "The Devil Wears Prada" last night with Carolyn and Michelle. I've been hearing lots of people say not so great things, but I loved it!!! I just finished the book a couple of weeks ago. They changed a lot of things from the book to the movie, but it was still a great movie. Anyways, I'm off to have breakfast on this, my last "vacation day" and then I'll be scrappin for the rest of the day.

Fun Page....

Finally got around to doing some scrapbooking. Everytime I got the urge over the last couple of days there was other stuff to be done, like laundry, cooking dinner, etc.... I'm really happy with the outcome of this one though.

It's Over

Just a quick post for now - just wanted to post that I'd survived the Lobster Carnival weekend. It was one of the best carnivals I can ever remember. Thursday night was girls night. I asked Christine and Dawn to be my bridesmaids and I'm so excited that they said yes. It just makes all the wedding planning so much more fun to know that they will be involved. We finished off the night at the tavern. Friday we went out on the boat and I got a really bad sunburn. Friday night we went to the beer gardens and saw Trooper. Saturday brought with it another boat ride - there were 24 of us on the boat this time. Saturday night was the parade and a trip to Alec Thoms pub. All in all, it was an amazing weekend. I consumed more alcohol over this one weekend that I did for in entire rest of the year. I've got hundreds of great pictures, but I'm still home in Pictou, so I can't post any until I get back to PEI. I think I'll head home tomorrow and enjoy the rest of my vacation there. More tales of the weekend to come - I promise.

Forgot these movie and book reviews

Ok, so I've spent a fair amount of time in the past week at the theater and with my face buried in book!!! At the movies I saw:

The Lake House: this was a pretty bad movie. The whole concept is just soooo silly. And you have to concentrate soooo hard to figure out what the heck is going on, it was hard to just enjoy the movie.

Cars: this was a great movie. It was funny. I was pretty tired at the theater and it seemed a little drawn out come the end (maybe because it was soooo predictable as well, but what can you expect from a kids movie). It had some good adult humor parts in it, too.

Nacho Libre: another very funny movie. Not everyone will find this one funny though. It's written by the same people who wrote Napoleon Dynamite and is very similar in it's humor. It's silly funny stuff that I think will get funnier everytime you watch it. I was sooo surprised because Jack Black is in the lead in this movie, and there was not one other actor I have other seen before. Jack Black was as hilarious as always. Can't wait to get this one on DVD.

I also finished a couple of books:

Shopaholic and Sister: another great shopaholic book. I swear that Sophie Kinsella could write a million of these things and I would never get bored of them.

The Devil Wears Prada: this book exceded all my expectations. I was expected it to be good, but it was a great read. I finished it in about a week. I'll have to make another trip to the theater soon to see the movie!!!

My Vacation so Far...

Day 1: Friday - worked at the scrapbook store. It rained - really hard, and there was thunder and lightening.
Day 2: Saturday - slept in, did laundry, went to Charlottetown to see Two Hours Traffic and Joel Plaskett. When we came home, it rained, and there was more thunder and lightening.
Day 3: Sunday - had big plans for some Mini Golf, and perhaps a trip to the driving range with our clubs, and guess what..... it rained!!!!! And last night at around 12:30 there was more thunder and lightening!!!!!

So, weather-wise, my vacations not off to a great start, but that's ok, as long as I'm here at home I can at least scrapbook and make some cards. I think a lot of stuff is closed here today since the July 1st holiday fell on a Saturday, but I'll hopefully get some stuff that's been on my list for months crossed off. The laundry is all done, so I can pack for the trip home to Pictou for the weekend.

Oh, and the concert Saturday was sooooo much fun. Joel Plaskett put on a great show. We were in the 3rd row from the stage, and other than the big stick in the mud guy who stood right in fromt of me and didn't even seem to care that he was there and the girl to my right who kept hitting me in the face with her ponytail when she turned around, it was great!!! I didn't take my camera because sometimes I really hate lugging it around for the whole day, but I had my new camera phone. I now realize, however, that I can't figure out how to get the pictures transferred to the computer!! I know, it sounds like a simple task, but the computer just won't recognize the phone. I'll keep trying and hopefully figure something out; There is one of Bevan and I at the concert that I really like.

Too Long...

Wow, a half a month since I posted, I know, that's tooooo long. I have some good excuses, but won't bore you with them, let's just say we've been busy, not always doing things we wanted to be doing. But, guess what, I'm on Vacation now!!!! Yay, 2 weeks of doing whatever I want!!! Well, I'm going to take this opportunity to catch up on all the cleaning my house needs, as well as some scrapbooking hopefully. I shouldn't promise anything though, because Lobster Carnival is next weekend, and I've yet to figure out how long I'm going to be home for, so I may get nothing at all done, which would be fine too!!
This weekend is Festival of Light in Charlottetown. I'm disappointed that I missed last nights concerts: Matt Mays and Sam Roberts, but we're heading down this afternoon to see the Joel Plaskett Emergency - I'm pretty excited!!!
The pictures you see are of my garden and flowers before our rain storm yesterday. Things I've learned about gardens: 1. most flowers need more sunlight than I have provided. Never plant your garden on the side of your house that gets barely any sun and never plant it under a huge chestnut tree!! 2. never place your garden in a place where water from your roof will pour off, creating a huge trench in the soil!!! I guess you learn from your mistakes!! Maybe I'll try to fix up the soil tomorrow. Can't do it today because it's Canada Day and everything is closed!!
Had my last card class at the shop yesterday. I enjoyed doing them, but I must say, I'm looking forward to a break. Don't know how many Fridays I want to work at the shop over the summer, I think I may take a vacation from that until September as well.
Well, I'm off to get ready for our trip to Charlottetown.
